Negombo

Negombo

Negombo Beach is a five kilometer long sandy beach located on the west coast of Sri Lanka. Negombo is a cozy coastal and holiday town with its main attraction being the wide golden sandy beach.

The beach offers a variety of activities, such as kite surfing and windsurfing. The wind conditions at Negombo Beach are perfect for a tummy tuck joint at sea level, especially between January and March. The strength of the wind naturally also affects the sea, so you can expect nice high waves.

If you prefer to take it easy, you can spend your holiday in the shade of lush palm trees by the sea. When you crave variety, you can go for a long walk to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Negombo has grown from a small fishing village to a holiday town, so you can often see picturesque fishing boats on foot.

At the end of the day, you can dip your toes in the soft sand and enjoy an incredibly spectacular sunset. Head into the promenade as the evening fades and pop into one of the cozy restaurants or atmospheric bars that line the street.

Negombo’s long sandy beach is at its best between December and April, when there are a lot of sunny hours, very little rainfall and pleasantly high temperatures. At this time, there is a dry season on the west coast of Sri Lanka.

Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa

Located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, the resort town of Hikkaduwa is known for its white sandy beaches and fascinating coral reef with large sea turtles swimming in it.

Here you can dive and snorkel in the midst of colorful tropical fish and adorable sea turtles. There are also other places of interest for divers, as there are several fascinating wrecks in front of Hikkaduwa.

In addition to the magnificent coral reef, Hikkaduwa is also a surfer’s paradise, and the beach in the resort town is considered one of the best surfing beaches in Sri Lanka. The waves that wash Hikkaduwa’s beach are perfect for both experienced surfers and beginners. Surfing conditions are particularly favorable between May and September.

If you prefer a peaceful beach holiday instead of activities, Hikkaduwa’s beautiful sandy beach also provides a good setting for a more relaxed holiday life. On the long beach you are guaranteed a peaceful place to settle down to enjoy the warmth of the sun and a good book.

The best time to head for a beach holiday in Hikkaduwa is during the dry season from December to April. At this time of year the weather is warm and sunny.
